Oxford, Mississippi

Foremost among Oxford's industrial advantages is the availability and quality of our work force. Over 10,000 people live in the city and 34,000 people live in Lafayette County. The mild climate and excellent road system enable employers to attract employees from a seven county area.

Manufacturing firms, retail and wholesale establishments, and service industries draw from a civilian labor force of over 90,000. Depending on the age, size and location of the industry, as many as 40% of employees are commuting from outside Lafayette County. This is easily understood since Oxford is the manufacturing, medical, educational, governmental and trading hub of North Mississippi.
